How does the Boldr Smart Controller work?
The Boldr Smart Controller communicates with your indoor HVAC head using infrared (IR) technology, the same method used by a standard handheld remote control.
Once installed and configured, the Boldr Smart Controller sends IR commands to your indoor unit to manage functions such as temperature, operating mode, and fan speed. For consistent and reliable operation, the controller must be positioned correctly.
Placement requirements:
Infrared range of up to approximately 30 feet
A clear line of sight between the controller and the indoor unit
No physical obstructions blocking the IR signal
If the Boldr Smart Controller does not have a direct line of sight to the indoor head, commands may not be received correctly.
How many indoor heads can be controlled with one Boldr Smart Controller?
The recommended setup is one Boldr Smart Controller per indoor head. This provides the best experience, allowing accurate, independent, and reliable control of each unit.
That said, there is a supported exception:
If you have multiple indoor heads located in the same room, and:
All indoor heads use an identical infrared remote
The indoor heads respond to the same IR commands
The Boldr Smart Controller is placed or mounted within line of sight of all indoor heads
Then a single Boldr Smart Controller can control multiple indoor heads at the same time.
Please note:
All connected indoor heads will receive commands simultaneously
Individual control of each indoor head will not be possible
Proper placement is critical to ensure all units receive the IR signal
Best practice recommendation
For optimal performance, flexibility, and precise control, Boldr recommends using one Boldr Smart Controller per indoor head, particularly in multi-room or multi-zone installations.
